The climate change we are worried about that threatens our lives, wildlife, and our economy is the climate change caused by us. Human-caused climate change is a reflection of our behavior; specifically, how we behave at the institutional, community, and individual level. And yet, despite climate change rising to the top tier of citizens’ worries for the future (Leiserowitz et al., Nov., 2019), we’re not doing enough.
We’re convinced that sharing and applying the insights from evidence-based behavioral sciences can help. Evidence from behavioral studies can be applied to:
- addressing human inertia in acting
- changing daily habits
- confronting fear and despair in adaptation planning
- tackling entrenched institutions
- creating tipping points in policy support
- teaching climate science
- moving to hope
